Family Support Services’ program helps kinship families and foster youth shop for the holiday foods they need each Thanksgiving

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. (Sept. 8, 2025) – Families across Duval and Nassau counties open their homes and hearts to children in foster care every day. This Thanksgiving, we can open ours too. With the click of a button, donors to Family Support Services can provide grocery gift cards that help fill pantries and ease seasonal shopping for families and young adults in extended care programs.

Family Support Services provides hundreds of $50 gift cards to families providing kinship care and young adults in extended foster care each year, ensuring holiday tables are warm and welcoming with the foods that say ‘Thanksgiving’ to each family. Organizers say the Thanksgiving Fund provides caregivers and young adults choice and comfort, making it possible to feed additional family members and share in the spirit of the holiday – all without having to learn how to thaw a turkey on the fly!

To donate directly to the FSS Thanksgiving fund for foster caregivers and youth, go to fssjax.org, click the orange “Donate” button, and choose “Thanksgiving” from the dropdown menu. You can also donate in someone’s honor or memory for an extra thoughtful gesture. Giving thanks has never been simpler – or more meaningful.
