The Center of Hope at Emmett Reed recognized Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a set of events that linked arms with Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center and uplifted one of its community pillars — community health — with a Pink Party on October 4, 2023, and the return of the Buddy Bus, the health system’s mobile mammography unit later in October.
Local anchor and breast cancer advocate Jeanne Blaylock worked with Family Support Services and Center of Hope to spread the message of how important this annual screening is, and Executive Director of Community Reinvestment Jada Hunter also uplifted the message specific to Black women and the 32209 community with an appearance on the WJXT Morning Show.
